Infinity Bridge was officially opened on 14 May 2009. Thousands of people gathered the banks of the River Tees to watch Infinity Bridge lit up in all its glory for the first time. Guests were treated to a light display in which the bridge was illuminated green, yellow, blue, purple and red before free runners scaled the twin arches and the sky was dazzled by a stunning fireworks display.
The 272 metre long footbridge links Teesdale with Northshore. It has already scooped several major industry and engineering awards.
Infinity Bridge is funded by Stockton Borough Council, One North East, Homes and Communities Agency and the European Regional Development Fund.
It was built by Balfour Beatty and sub contractors Cleveland Bridge and Dorman Long.
