Regeneration success puts area in the spotlight
TEES Valley is in the spotlight again after scooping another national award.
The new Middlesbrough College, built on Tees Valley Unlimited's Middlehaven site, has won the BURA (British Urban Regeneration Association) award for Best Practice in Regeneration.
BURA's award recognises projects that make a positive contribution to the economic regeneration and act as a catalyst for further regeneration.
Richard Buckley, Tees Valley Unlimited's Director of Development, said: "This is yet another award to add to Tees Valley's growing trophy cabinet.
"The fact that a body such as BURA, which is a specialist organisation looking at the positive effects of regeneration, has chosen Middlesbrough College as a winner is an affirmation that we have got it right.
"People are beginning to notice how well Tees Valley is doing - Teesside University has won the University of the Year award and here at TVR we have already picked up several national awards this year for Infinity Bridge in Stockton.
"The latest award is great news for the region and one that even the most entrenched doubters must recognise."
Middlesbrough College sits at the heart of the billion pound, mixed use Middlehaven scheme. The scheme, led by Tees Valley Unlimited, will transform the land off the A66 into a thriving complex of business, leisure and residential facilities.
